Yolanda lives in a very old, very beautiful huge house in Porto in a collective with a group of people. The collective has an agreement with the owners of the house that they may stay there for free as long as they maintain and improve the condition of the house. Like so many old buildings in Porto, the house had been left to deteriorate for many years. When they moved in, the roof was leaking, windows broken and the place was very dirty. Slowly, and using mainly recycled materials, they are constantly working on repairs. With an old house in such a condition, it is a never ending task that the collective takes on to make their home liveable and pleasant. In the back yard food is grown, and there is an old fashioned deep well also in the yard where water is collected for watering the garden.
