Sandra Kinnaman Nordström

“I grew up with this mentality that you should do something for the world”

 

Her own adventures have also impacted her life views. Very young she started travelling, starting in India, moving around finding herself in Guatemala working with kids who lived in Guatemala city dump.-

 

“Now I feel so free because I know that I can manage without almost anything, so even if I get used to certain luxuries of the urban life, I know I don’t need them and that I can be really happy without them. I know that if I don’t have any money that I will manage somehow, and that gives me a sense of safety and freedom”

 

While seeing the world, living in alternative communities, and studying Social Anthropology and Human Ecology, Sandra collected many treasures and experiences in her life. She's now at a place where she is ready to construct something new, and to actively live the change she wants to see in the world.

 

For the last years, Sandra has been with The Good Tribe, a social venture that offers innovative tools to create awareness and passion for sustainability in municipalities and companies in Austria and Sweden. They address sustainability with social entrepreneurship, creativity and fun to make it understandable and accessible.
The focus of The Good Tribe is to help people identify their passions and using these passions to work with sustainability, especially targeting zero waste.

 

In spring 2012, Sandra began a huge project with 3 of her friends. They were offered to take over a 3000m2 house in Falun, a couple of hours outside of Stockholm. They want to open up this house as a collective project, making it into a house of endless possibilities. The goal is to make the building sustainable and self-sufficient and to create space for creative expressions, experimenting, and solutions for leading sustainable lives and societies. They will host workshops, courses, ateliers for artists and people who want to participate and collaborate in creating a vibrant, happy and sustainable world.

 

“We’re here to test and to see, what can a sustainable world be like? What can a sustainable life be like? How can a whole house be zero waste? How can we, and everyone who comes here change their behaviour when in the house? How can we design processes and ways that everyone takes part?”
